Capita SIMS - How we work

How we work

We work in partnership with schools and local authorities. Our customers count on us to be their trusted partner, supporting whole school improvement and leadership. Every school is different and local needs vary – we work closely with schools and LAs to ensure we bring ultimate value in the form of flexible and bespoke solutions, every time.

We listen to and actively engage our schools. Their feedback is an integral part of product development process. We involve schools at the testing phase and throughout our product lifecycle. The enhancements we create and release each term are in direct response to feedback from schools.

Why we do what we do

Our people are all driven by a common goal – to deliver an outstanding service to schools and local authorities. We are proud of our long history of supporting schools to achieve excellence. Many of our staff are former headteachers, deputies, teachers and ICT managers and understand the unique issues in education.

Our Managing Director, Phil Neal, wrote the first software to manage pupil records when he was working as a teacher in Lea Manor High School in Bedfordshire. His vision was and remains to this day to free teachers from an administration burden so they could concentrate on learning and teaching.

From our very roots, this core purpose underlines everything we do. We believe if you can’t see every pupil, every class and every department year-on-year, you can’t measure progress effectively and can’t intervene effectively.

We help ensure schools can get the answers they need, when they need them. That’s why we’re trusted with managing the records of 6 million pupils every day, managing pupil records in over 22,000 schools, for the last 25 years.
