Before joining SIMS, I had been a teacher for 15 years, teaching maths and computer science and taking on the roles of timetabler, exams officer and SIMS manager. I moved to SIMS some 16 years ago to become a senior SIMS training consultant, combining my passion for SIMS with educating. I then worked as a national pre-sales consultant before being appointed this year as SIMS product manager, completing a 22 year cycle of working with SIMS, firstly in school, as a trainer and now being able to help shape the future of SIMS.
I manage the life cycle of several products including Core, Dinner Money and Primary Curriculum. I also assist in the management of FMS and Personnel products from concept through development and eventual retirement of product versions.
I particularly enjoy being a product champion and presenting to both small and large audiences. This allows me to share my enthusiasm, my knowledge about the product and, above all, explain how SIMS can save schools time, costs and effort. I’m fortunate to have lots of opportunities to meet our customers and see how they use SIMS, for example, how the behaviour tools provided by SIMS are employed to meet the individual needs and policies of schools and academies.
It’s also immensely satisfying to be part of the development team and to witness how so many different skill sets come together to shape the final product. The development team continually strive to ensure that customers have the best software solutions to meet the ever-changing needs of education.
My first impression of SIMS was that it was a warm, welcoming company with dedicated professionals working together as a team. I think that is as true today as it was when I joined!
