Simon Smith - Services Director
“I’m always impressed by the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to support the SIMS software in schools.”

At SIMS we’re well aware that a sound investment deserves the maximum possible return, which is where the SIMS Services Division comes in – our primary purpose is to support our customers in making the most of SIMS and their valuable data.
My role as Services Director is to ensure the delivery of high quality services to our schools and local authorities, including our hosted services, service desks, training and on-site consultancy, SIMS Independent, publications and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
I’ve been working with SIMS software for over 15 years, originally as part of the SIMS Support Team in Coventry City Council before working with SIMS in a Community Technology College. In 2004, I joined SIMS as Core Product Manager, moving on to the role of Head of Product Management before being appointed to the SIMS Board as Services Director.
The best part of my job has to be working with schools, and seeing how the effective use of SIMS can make a real difference in changing children’s lives, particularly when issues are identified early. I also enjoy working with our Services Product Team to help develop new services to support schools in the changing world of education – I’m always impressed by the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to support the SIMS software in schools.
I’m also particularly proud of the successful launch of our strategic consultancy services for schools and academies – these have been extremely popular and it’s been great to witness our teams build those services with the enthusiasm to make a real difference.
