Managing behaviour and attendance
Established, trusted and comprehensive, SIMS is every school’s improvement partner.
Truancy, lateness and negative behaviour can disrupt the culture of even the best of schools. With the right information, you can target the problems and put measures in place to address any issues based around accurate and evidence-based data.
Tackle truancy and lateness head-on
It is estimated that more than 64,000 pupils miss school without permission every day and the truancy rate for primary school children is rising. With the DfE threshold for persistence absence reduced to 15%, it’s more important than ever that you have the right tools to monitor absence. Research has shown that early intervention is the key to tackling attendance issues – but to intervene earlier you need to have real-time access to your attendance figures.
With SIMS, you can record and view attendance marks for AM/PM attendance. You can keep up-to-date with any trends developing in your attendance figures and analyse patterns of attendance for individuals, groups or classes over defined time periods. Persistent truants can be quickly identified for attendance officers to follow up. You can even see if a pupil is continually arriving five minutes late for class or if a child’s lateness could be having an impact on their learning.

Supporting good behaviour and achievement
SIMS enables you to keep a complete record of pupil behaviour - vital in helping you manage behavioural incidences effectively in your school.
Using this information, SIMS quickly identifies any patterns of poor behaviour that might require a discussion with pupils, their parents, staff and governors. Schools can also use the information recorded in SIMS to acknowledge and reward good behaviour.
During class, teachers can assign detentions or other negative behaviour incidences directly within SIMS and make relevant behaviour notes on a pupil’s school record. This ensures that any administration, such as letters to parents, can be managed automatically and details of the event are available to staff for future reference.
