Tudor Court Primary School, Thurrock
Tudor Court had been using their own system for pupil progress tracking and although this suited teachers’ initial needs, it wasn’t easy to share information between staff or to collect it centrally for performance analysis. It also made it difficult to share information with parents.
The school was looking to improve parental engagement and for teachers to access SIMS in the classroom without installing the full package on each machine. They adopted SIMS Learning Gateway (SLG) and called in SIMS Professional Services to show how SIMS could track pupil progress in the exact way they wanted.
With SLG, a browser is used to access the data so teachers can use virtually any computer with internet access, including being able to access SIMS from home if they want. The impact has already been considerable for the school in terms of efficiency, flexibility and a better flow of information.
Viv Northhall, Headteacher, explains: “The SIMS analysis tools are very powerful and enable us to see exactly how every pupil and class is progressing so we can spot if they start to fall behind and step in to help. Parents are able to log on to a secure area of the web site and view information we record on their children, such as their attendance information and the rewards and sanctions system that we use.”
