Head of Education
My role involves…
I work with schools to ensure that SIMS supports them in meeting the challenges of running their schools more effectively and efficiently, in a changing technological and educational landscape.
What I love about working for Capita SIMS…
Working with people who really care about making the software the best it can be. Their passion for developing products which have a positive impact on pupils, whilst making the lives of school staff easier, is unbelievably infectious.
In common with several members of the SIMS team, I also have a background in teaching – some 13 years in fact – as a science teacher, Head of ICT and the Deputy Head of a large secondary school in Manchester. It was in this latter role where I first became passionate about the potential for SIMS to impact on pupil achievement and love being part of a company that helps to make this happen.
My greatest inspiration is…
Hearing back from senior leaders, teachers and administrators about how SIMS has made a difference to their lives and the outcomes of pupils in their school. This is what gets me out of bed in the morning.
The most important lesson I learned at school…
‘Teachers know best!’
Fun fact…
I once met David Cameron in a bar on a remote beach in Portugal.
