At Capita SIMS, we understand that encouraging parents to become more involved and engaged in the daily school life of their children can be a challenge. SIMS Parent app
Since launching the SIMS Parent app to build on the popular SIMS Learning Gateway, we’ve seen schools take to the app format for communicating with parents really quickly. Smartphone apps are now part and parcel of everyday life, so it’s no surprise that parents love using them due to their familiarity, flexibility and ease of use.
By using the SIMS Parent app, schools have more ability than ever to keep in touch with their parents, sending information on attendance, homework, timetables or school reports to help keep parents on top of their child’s progress.
That’s why we’re excited to continue developing the SIMS Parent app to improve its functionality and keep streamlining engagement activities for schools.
In February this year, we began work towards merging SIMS Activities into the SIMS Parent app. If you’re not familiar with SIMS Activities, it allows schools to manage their extra-curricular activities such as school trips, homework clubs and after-school sports teams. It allows schools to make parents aware of upcoming activities, take registers of attendance and notify them if a pupil doesn’t arrive, all rapid action on safeguarding in addition to being useful for cutting down paper communications.
Given the role of SIMS Activities in communicating with parents, it makes sense for it to become part of a broader, more holistic solution for parental engagement, utilising the popularity and functionality of the SIMS Parent app to bring its power to more schools and more parents.
If your school is already a customer of either product, then there’s no need to worry about losing any functionality – existing SIMS Activities customers will gain access to the SIMS Parent app at no extra cost until their next annual entitlement run. In addition, existing subscribers to the SIMS Parent app will receive Activities functionality as part of their subscription.
Over the course of the next twelve months, we’ll continue to keep developing our parental engagement solutions to make them as versatile and valuable as possible for schools.
