Admissions are the life-blood of any independent or international school – keeping up the momentum of continuous interest, through enquiries and applications, is a key part of your success and strategic planning, both in the near and medium-term future.
Your admission process may even start years before the applicant is due to start at your school – it will almost certainly be many months – so it’s important that your registrar or director of marketing has the full picture, including the number of enquiries coming through and the current status of applications.
An instant snapshot of pupil recruitment
The SIMS Homepage features a useful Admissions widget which provides an instant snapshot of the position of your admissions in any one given year. It even enables you to focus on prospective specific groups, such as boarders, if that’s of interest to your school.
The initial view displays the number of enquires and of applications by status (Applied, Offered, Accepted etc.). This view can then be expanded to show the figures per year group.
Compare against the previous year’s intake
In order to gauge whether your pupil recruitment numbers are on a par, or exceeding those of the previous year’s, you can also use the Admissions widget to provide a comparison against last year.
At different points of the year you’re likely to need slightly different comparisons, and you may wish to wait to monitor acceptances until after offers have been sent to parents. With the Admissions widget you have this flexibility, and can compare the status of admissions with, for example, yesterday, last week or last month, as well as doing yearly comparisons.
Analyse by specific groups
The beauty of the Admission widget is that you can use it to display specific information of interest to you using different panels for different intakes, for example looking at the number of prospective day pupils and boarders.
Headteachers: an instant picture on your homepage showing where you are with your admissions. You can also save more specific reports from the SIMS reporting library to the ‘favourite reports’ panel on your homepage which show projected pupil numbers by postcode analysis or by which feeder schools successful applications are coming from
Bursars: see instantly on your homepage where you are with your admissions. You can also save more specific reports from the SIMS reporting library to the ‘favourite reports’ panel on your homepage for a useful projection of future revenue for your budget planning.
Marketing directors and managers: in addition to saving the admissions widget on your homepage you can also include specific reports from the SIMS reporting library to the ‘favourite reports’ panel on your homepage for an at a glance picture of where to target your marketing activity where it will have the greatest impact on increasing pupil numbers.
Registrars and admissions officers: a useful overview of the status of applications and enquiries to your school.
