Keswick School, based in Cumbria is a secondary academy for 11 to 18 year olds, with some students also attending as boarders. The academy is a specialist school for science and maths and is a designated Training School. The academy is also a Pioneer School with an Arkwright Scholarship, a consultant school for the Specialist Schools Trust and a Gifted and Talented National School. The academy was judged ‘Outstanding’ at its last Ofsted inspection. Keswick has recently become a SIMS partnership school.
Jill Wilson, Assistant Head of Keswick School, decided to trial the SIMS self-evaluation healthcheck in December 2013. The school was due an inspection and they were keen to receive any help they could with the process and the new inspection framework.
